Over the past two weeks, we explored my 6 C’s to creating transformation that sticks…. we’ve made it through 5 so far: Connection, Consciousness, Choice, Courage and Commitment….which brings us to our final C:
COMMUNITY.
Making real, lasting change in your life is hard.
Choosing to change habits, our BELIEFS, the things that have kept us comfortable (and small) for all these years is a tall order.
I don’t know about you, but I fare much better when I’m on a journey with others and have people to talk to, lean on & share experiences with.
I thrive when I know there is someone who will notice when I fall, and who will help pick me up.
If you’re struggling, feeling alone, isolated (how could we NOT feel isolated right now?) it’s up to you to reach out and find a community that can be a sounding board, a crash pad and a safe space.
COMMUNITY creates the following:
- ACCOUNTABILITY. Saying you want to make changes is one thing. Community creates accountability by giving you partners-in-life who are also working on their goals and will hold you to the declarations you make for yourself.
- GENEROSITY. Being in community gives you the opportunity to BE generous. When you share your journey, what’s working and not working for you, your struggles, your wins and your pain, you give other people permission to share theirs.
The generosity you give, you get back. As others share their experience, you become richer.
- SUPPORT. When it feels like you’re dragging yourself through life, a little support can go a long way. Leaning on community means you don’t have to go through things alone. A phone call, an instant message or an email can make a big difference in how you feel.
The RIGHT community will support you, hold you to your highest, push you forward and pick you up when you fall.
The WRONG community will make you feel wrong for your thoughts or beliefs, or will rush you to be somewhere you are not, so choose wisely!
Community doesn’t just mean sharing physical space though. Even in these times of isolation, community is still very much possible. Look at what we’ve created here, and what we create each time we get together on zoom to share and support each other. MAGIC is possible!
In a nutshell, reach out for community, or create it yourself!
Remember, if it's to be, it's up to me.
