Meet the Team - Stewart!

meet the team May 26, 2021

Let’s get to know the next team member at Yogi Flight School

If you are already a member, you have likely seen a handful of names pop up over and over on our Members Only Facebook group. If you’re not yet a member, you’re missing out! (...and can learn more about our program here).

For our fourth and final Meet the Team featured post, we introduce…

Stewart Adcock, Community Ninja at Yogi Flight School.

Stewart, like Abi, was part of the first cohort of Yogi Flight School students in September of 2020!

Stewart holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry and manages a team of software engineers at a non-profit organization that promotes state-of-the-art software in chemistry and crystallography. It is used in more than 1,000 Universities around the world.

Having grown up in the UK, Stewart attended the Sheffield and Oxford Universities, where he met his wife. They were each completing one-year placements as part of their studies, where they were strategically housed on opposite sides of the toilet. Naturally, a romance ensued.

Together they moved to San Diego. Here, Stewart became a rock climbing enthusiast and began doing yoga to improve his skills. The teacher was an 80-year-old man who would end each session by doing a crazy inversion. Although he was impressed, Stewart never intended to set out to learn how to do those inversions himself.

Eventually, Stewart and his wife chose to move back to the UK, get married, and start a family. He is a loving father to FOUR children, including a set of twins! This contributed to a 15-year break from yoga!

What brought Stewart to Yogi Flight School?

The Covid lockdowns gave Stewart an opportunity to take a deeper dive into the world of Yoga. In August of 2020, his two regular teachers took some time off - and Yogi Flight School’s first free training appeared!

At the end of the training, he questioned whether he could find the time or spare funds to purchase the YFS course. Conveniently, he received a bonus from work at about the same time for around the same amount as the course. (Coincidence? I think not.)

After his 8-weeks within the modules, Stewart stayed very active within the YFS FB community, offering advice and encouragement to his fellow ninjas. He found the community to be inspiring. In March 2021, Nathania asked him to become a community ninja, and the rest is history.
